In
1988 the band made its first trip abroad; a concert tour of Hochsaurland in Germany. This visit developed links with both the area
and a German band, Neheim-Husten
Fanfarenkorps. The following year a partnership was agreed
and since then both bands have taken part in several exchange visits. Newland
last visited Neheim in July
2004.
13
delegates from Newland Concert Brass on 29th September 2006 went over to Neheim, Germany to join in the 50th
Anniversary celebrations of our twinning partnership band, the Fanfaren-Korps Neheim-Huesten.
The
weekend started of with speeches on the Friday night from councillors and
other people associated with the Fanfaren-Korps Neheim-Huesten.
On
Saturday saw a long day event with musical groups coming to play in the Schuetzen Hall in Huesten, and
then followed by a night of dancing in the hall with the group called 'Sound For You'. Fun was had by all.
On
Sunday there was a market held in the town of Neheim and to
coincide with the Fanfaren-Korps Neheim-Huesten's 50th
Anniversary other Fanfaren-Korps from around the area came and played. At the
end of the day there was around 400 musicians who
all played for the crowd in a mass Fanfaren-Korps lead by the
conductor of the Fanfaren-Korps Neheim-Huesten.
